Round 3, Fight 1, Scene 1, Act 1

http://celestine-empire.net/battlegrid/DM.php?sessionID=a1s1f1

The large bug roars, acid spraying about the room and attempts to scoop up the warforged, but the warforged shoves off the mandibles when they attempt to close in on him (15 to AC is a miss right?)

Zenor puts his hand on his side feeling the large wound one of the bugs inflicted on him. Then suddenly he eyes the large bug and unleashes a powerful kick in its direction (Open the gates of battle at A2, 21 vs reflex 17 damage and another 7 damage if that hit) then he moves quickly out of the range of the smaller bug (Shift from I4 to H4)
(Also if A2 died from either the 17 or 7 damage let me know because that changes how I move)

(Youre going to need to try and escape the grab first if you want to move. The bug doesnt die, and I dont think is even bloodied but I could be wrong and will double check when you decide what to do)(Also, you cant reach A2?? You can reach A1. Are you drunk?)

(I meant to say A1, 17 athletics to escape the grab so no shift)

(also the name of that attack is retarded lol)

Zenor gives a strong kick that cracks the bug solidly (24 total damage) and wriggles out of its grasp.
The large bug is tenacious however and snaps its head quickly to the side grabbing Zenor again (20 ac, 7 damage). It then attempts to grinds its mandibles, but Zenor has felt this trick already, and flexes his shoulders to prevent further crushing (12 ac).

Zenor goes down (Max gets iced)

(BROS ICING BROS! Also: Ever heard of second winds? Use them!)

(I did)

(oh haha!)

The halfling moves over to the small bug (B4) and attempts to beat it with his mace, forgoing all attempts at subtlety. (27 vs AC to hit, 13 damage, rattling).

Bug guts splatter violently over the halfling. At this point the room is littered with baby corpses. Like all of them.

The dog charges at A2 and attempts to pounce on him (7 vs. ref is a miss i'm guessing). As the dog nears the bug it glances at Titan and seems momentarily puzzled by this bizarre creature and completely misses the attack.

(Haha blame it on the toaster. Blinn is go! But Karl is out of town so prob wont go for about a day)

The changling finally steps into the room behind the table (move to N4) and throws his javelin at the large bug next to Zenor. Midway through its flight a compartment on the javelin opens up leaking a smelly acidic substance onto the tip, but misses its target and plunks into the ground. The tip of the javelin springs out launching the javelin back into the changling's hands. (15 vs. AC to A1, I'm assuming that's not good enough )

(Titan to act, that is indeed a miss)

Titan, unfocused on anything around him other than the overgrown bug, swings his maul once around before bringing it into the creature’s side (11+8=19 vs. AC), connecting with a powerful strike, letting out a metallic roar, making sure he goes nowhere else. (3+6+4 = 13 damage and marked)

Jacobus steps into the room and irritatedly flicks another bolt of lightning at the bug opposite Titan (16 vs. Ref on A2, 15 lightning damage on hit and the lightning arcs to A1, dealing 3 lightning to it).

The large bug beast recoils at the smashing of the maul and then the subsequent crackle of lightning, as acid begins to fly out of a wound in its side (bloodied, both are hits)

Diggie finally pokes his head in the door to send another tricksy crossbow bolt flying into the room. And into the bug's eye. (A2 Jinx Shot 23 vs AC 9 dmg If target misses before end of my next turn it falls prone)

20 A2 - Miss Titan

20 Zenor - 24 to A1 and escape

19 A1 - Ices Zenor

15 Lars- Ices B4

13 Large Dog- misses A1

Round 2, Fight 1, Scene 1, Act 1

The large bug (A2) obliges Titan's challenge and snaps its mandibles, closing around his armor (21 AC is a hit right?) and clamping down, managing to catch a squishy bit (11 damage). (Assuming that 21 AC does indeed hit the following occurs) He then gnaws a bit on the gigantic mechanical machine (10 damage and 5 ongoing acid) and drags him backwards into the room, towards the stairs. (L6-> J6 and pulls Titan M6-> K6. That was a pwning)

Titan’s parts crunch and crack with the pressure of the bug’s jaws as sparks fly from his body. A sickening metallic roar echoes loudly from deep in his core as he gets dragged into the room and splashes of oil and strange viscous fluids pour from the highly damaged parts.
(bloodied pwnage)

Despite bleeding from the many wounds covering his body Zenor concentrates all of his might into another spinning whrilwind striking the three enemies surrounding him. (on a hit 13 damage, dex vs reflex, 19 vs A1, 8 vs b4, and 23 vs b2, if any of those hit 7 flurry of blows damage to A1). He then summons all of his remaining strength to stay standing (action point - second wind).

The wild spin connects with the large bug and one of the smaller bugs (20 damage to A1, B2 dies).
In retaliation the large one attempts to gnaw on the monk (21 AC, 10 damage) and then pulls him further and further away from his friends. It then scuttles off towards the stairs with Zenor attempting to kick out of the grasp with little success along the way. (Shift to M2, then moves to H5, dragging Zenor all the way along with I4)
The small one (b6) by Titan skitters around to attack from behind and sinks its mandibles into the robots back calf (21 AC for 6 damage) (K5-L6)
In panic, the now surrounded broodling (b1) claw swipes at Lars to little effect.

The halfling deftly steps towards one of the bugs attacking the titan, and with a menacing look in his eye, brings his mace crashing down. (21 vs AC on B6, rattling, 9 + 2 sneak attack on hit).

The mace splits the little bugs head open, and green hissing blood splatters over the floor.

The dog darts to the right (shift) and attempts to claw (Darting Bite) at B2 (10 vs. Ref, 8 damage) before sinking its teeth into B1 (21 vs. Ref, 4 damage). (I assume the second attack hits, therefore:) The dog then dashes into the corner (shifts as part of a hit), prepared to finish off the bug.

"Let's hope this works on you mechina as well as flesh," yells the changling as he tosses another vial at the titan. (Titan regains HP equal to his healing surge) He, once again, twists the same knobs and flicks the switch on his armor piece sending out another shocking blast that envelops Titan in a small protective cocoon. (Gain +1 AC until the end of my next turn) The lightning then ricochets and strikes toward one of the smaller bugs next to the massive warforged. (against B7 22 vs. Fort; 6 lightning damage and pushed back 1 square).

The broodlings carapace explodes as 10,000 volts pass through his body until he dies (name the movie for bonus XP).

(starship troopers?)

(definitely starship troopers! - I'll hav emy action as soon as I unpack - sorry ya'll I was away again haha)

(Its not, Karl got it with Green Mile. Where in starship does anyone get electrocuted?)

(bugs die left and right in Starship... electrocution, censorship, NPHing... are you doing YOUR part?)

(Im pretty sure every bug dies to gunfire, aerial drivevbyes, or grenades)

(wasn't there an electric fence in one of them?)

(ah that may be true. I think in the second one, but we never speak about that movie. Ever. Again.)

(Wrong; it's Jurassic Park, but if that snot-nosed little kid had actually died)

Titan’s parts appear to be affected by the healing vial, as some of the smaller dings and dents pop out and tiny lost parts are magically manifested into place. Although the acid from the bug’s previous attack corroded some of the machine’s parts, with a quick shake, Titan gets rid of its effects for the moment (18+2 = 20 save for ongoing damage).
He then calls back to the bug with a deep, resounding bellow, making a noise that creates a low hum against the walls and attempts to break loose out of the grasp he’s in (15+9 = 24 athletics vs. fort to break the grab)
Titan quickly lifts his maul above his head again and brings it down with deft accuracy against A2 as he makes to side step as well (Passing strike: 18+8=26 to AC = 11 damage, and shift 1 sq.) with the connect of his hit, Titan slides over to K7 and brings the maul up thundering against B7’s body (20 = critical = 16 damage)

(Also, Karl already killed B7, but I nor him changed it on the map, also B6 is dead so theres noone else in range. Do you want to change what you did?)
(The ones up do, the ones down do not, but they are walled from where you can see. Lets say the slope is 1.)

The small bug splatters under the heavy weight of the maul as the bigger one squeals in frustration over his strike.
(Regardless of what Titan does short of killing B2, B2 will do this then making it Jacobus' turn after Titan's amended turn)
The broodling skitters towards the halfling and tries to get a bite of squishy halfling bits, but Lars deftly dodges the attack (11 AC)

Instead of using passing strike, after breaking the bug’s grasp, Titan slams his maul into A2 directly to the head (20 + 8 = critical = 16 damage) of the bug.

The bug looks a bit shocked at the sudden conk, but shakes it off.

Jacobus attempts to hurl a blast of thunder along the path of Diggie's spell, resonating with its residual energies. (Thunder Slam, 12 vs. Fort on A1. In the unlikely event that that's a hit, 22 thunder damage and A1 is pushed to E7, then slid (with a failed save and provided the bannisters don't block the slide) to D8).

The bug stalwartly shakes off the electricity that licks over its body.

Diggie, realizing events inside the Inn are getting a little dicey, retreats to the comfort of the rear. (outside, behind jacobus, little hard to show on the map) Desperate times call for unorthodox tactics, so Diggie cocks his crossbow and sends a bolt flying at the small bug in his sights pinning it's tail to the floor. (B2, Jinx shot, nat 20(+6) 12 dmg, the first time the target misses with an attack before my next turn it falls prone)

Diggie's bolt pierces the bugs eye and pins it to the floor, skewering it like a piece of meat, but through the EYE. Ouch!

Round 1, Fight 1, Scene 1, Act 1

(OOG note: now all breaks between lines are to indicate emails from different people. Its generally pretty obvious which paragraphs are for which person, players describe their own actions, and I, the DM, describe hits or misses in addition to monster actions)

The halfling moves to the front door (D1) and throws it open.
http://celestine-empire.net/battlegrid/DM.php?sessionID=a1s1f1
The scene in front of you is less than appealing. What seems to be a normal looking base floor of the inn/tavern that is the Squeaky Cog is in serious need of extermination. There are two, large, terrible looking....bugs. They have relatively tough looking carapaces from which 6 grotesque appendages with spikes at the end of each emerge. The large one chitter a terrible clacking sound and their forearm-length mandibles clack, dripping with some sort of venomous looking substance. Amongst the room and under the chairs skitter about 8 more of the small broodlings, miniature versions of the monstrosities that sit before you.
One charges forward and glares, almost as a challenge, at the door. A small one charges forward, ready to feast upon the fresh meat.

The elf moves nimbly through the door and then quickly to the left so that he is next to two of the creatures (shift 2 to O6 using five storms movement power) and unleashes a whirlwind of punches and kicks (five storms vs reflext, on a hit 5 damage, 9 vs B2, 14 vs B5, if either of those hit 7 flurry of blows damage to B5 unless B5 somehow died in which case 7 damage to B2)

Zenor's fist solidly connects with the insect's carapace, but fails to break it.

The large bug skitters around the table and lunges in, wrapping the elf in its mandibles and snapping down hard on his torso (27 Ac, 12 damage, grabbed) and then skitters off while crushing the elf, its mandibles dripping with acid (20 AC, 6 damage, 5 ongoing acid (save ends), shift with Zenor back one space). The other broodlings move about the room, and look ready for combat, while one surges forward in an attempt to nibble on the grabbed Zenor, but Zenor lifts his legs using the large bug as leverage to avoid the miniature one (11 AC).

The halfling steps into the tavern, mace ready, then nimbly tumbles forward 5 feet, and smashes his mace upside B5's head. (Acrobatic Strike, 21 vs AC, 10 damage + 4 sneak attack)

The broodling's head explodes in yellow and green juices that splatter over Zenor's leg and side.

The dog charges in and pounces on B8 (17 vs. Ref, 6 damage)

The dog handily crushes the bug in its jaws, sending more green and yellow blood over the room.
The chittering of another broodling fills your ears as another of the small bugs skitters around the inn towards Zenor and tries to sink its mandibles in, but Zenor dances around the increasing swarm of bugs (11 to AC).

Blinn steps up right outside the door (D1) and tosses a breakable vial at the elf entangled with the large bug, covering him in a slightly sticky substance that quickly evaporates, closing some of the wounds and soothing the pain. (Zenor gains HP equal to his healing surge) Then he twists a few knobs and flicks a switch on his armor sending out a zig-zag of lightning that envelops Zenor in a small cocoon and continues on to blast one of the smaller bugs next to him. (Zenor gains +1 AC until the end of my next turn; against B3 19 vs. fort, 9 thunder damage, and push 1 square away from Zenor)

The bug spasms with electrical energy and flies backward, only its legs twitching.

Being wired for destruction, Titan thunders straight through the door, lifting his maul above his head as he squares off next to A2 (up to M6 position), He drops his maul straight down at the creature as he lumbers to a halt (26 to AC à 18 damage if hit)

As Titan lumbers past one of broodlings (B1) it attempts to claw at him but it dings off his heavy armor (15 AC).
The large Ankheg lets out the bug's equivalent of a roar, which is mostly just a terrible screeching sound, as the maul resounds sickeningly off the side of its armored abdomen (hit).
The hordes of bugs begin to skitter about, seemingly enraged by the hit against the brood leader. (B7: G7->L7, B2 shift 04 to O5)
The bugs seem mostly ineffectual against Titan's scale armor (B7 gets 14 to AC).
The small one sinks its mandibles into Zenor (I think, 18 to AC? 6 damage if hit).

Jacobus steps up behind Blinn, and his dagger crackles as he throws an arc of lightning towards the big bug. (12 vs. Ref on A2, if a hit 8 damage, slide A2 to M7, and lightning arcs to B1, dealing 3 to it)

The large bug deftly steps to the side avoiding the crack of lighting.

Diggie steps to the right of the door and with a wry smile pulls out his flute and sends a 'focused sound' at the large bug at N3. (22 vs ref 7dmg on hit everyone crits on rolls 18-20)

The large bug twitches its head and seems distraught by the tunes.

Act 1 Scene 1, Bolldrei's Hearth (Inn District in the city of Sharn)

(In general, separate emails from different people will be denoted by a paragraph break. Without further ado, here is the grand entrance.)

It is the early morning in Bolldrei's Hearth, a cheap Inn District in the Lower Central Plateau of Sharn, the City of Towers. A stray cat is mewling somewhere on a roof top, its broken vocal chords standing in stark contrast of the bustle of morning business. Everything seems to be going well, or as well as it would in the Lower City. A variety of men and women are about the streets, an innkeeper is arguing with a delivery boy on one corner while a very broad dwarven wife chases a gnomish man down the street wielding a wooden rolling pin.

Across the street from a particular inn, a halfling is napping in the
sun on a low wall, using an oversized shabby green cloak as a blanket.
Sticking out from the cloak is an unkempt head of short dirty blond
hair. He's facing towards an inn across the street, drooling slightly
in his sleep. One of his boots is on the wall next to his head, with a
few copper coins in it. He smells quite strongly of cheap liquor. He
stirs slightly as the gnome and dwarf run past, rising slightly to
check the contents of his boot before sinking back down to sleep.

A half-elf steps gingerly down the street, muttering sullenly to himself. He's dressed far too well for this part of town, but the clothing is worn, suggesting he's been in similar circumstances before. He grins as the gnome and dwarf run by, before a passing wagon splashes the contents of a puddle into his curly black hair, causing him to flail frantically for a few moments before resuming his dour expression.

A huge dog is lying near the entrance to a nearby alley and chewing on a large bone. The dog covered in bits of mud and dirt and one of its front paws looks bent out of shape, as if it was broken and healed that way.

A human male strolls through the street, seemingly ignorant of the people around his, only stopping to rummage through various rubbish bins pulling out obscure scraps and eying them in the sunlight only to mutter to himself and either pocket them or toss them aside. A closer look reveals something strange about the man, and it quickly becomes apparent that this is not a human, but a changeling who is constantly shuffling personas, almost giving him the look of a sloppy blur.

From around the corner of the Inn a jaunty tune is heard. A rather
dashing young man comes strolling up to the Inn pushing a cart full of
packages and bundles while whistling merrily. He is dressed
fashionably, at least fashionably for a man of workman's status, with
a flute sticking out of his back pocket and a rakish hat sitting up on
an angle on his head. The Innkeep sees him and turns away from his
more frustrating conversation to issue quick orders to some
assistants, who begin helping this man unload his packages into the
Inn.

A tall elf emerges out of an inn, he is dressed in an old but well taken care of green robe. He looks around, takes in his surroundings and breathes in the air before sitting down a few paces from the door of the inn and starts to meditate. Even though the street is bustling with people his concentration is not broken until a street vendor claps him on the shoulder and yells at him to move. The elf rises quickly, moves to another spot and resumes his meditation.

Suddenly, the casual bustling of the street is interrupted by the shrill scream of a woman. The door of the Squeaky Cog bursts open and a balding man with a potbelly erupts forth with a...thing on his back. He is bleeding from the neck as the armored bugs, about the size of a puppy, is digging its mandibles into his shoulder. He grunts in pain as a woman runs out with a cleaver, screaming at the top of her lungs. The man tears the creature off and throws it on the ground with a loud curse as the woman dutifully steps in and drives the cleaver through its armor, sending green goo splattering over her hand and apron.

The monk immediately breaks out of his trance and quickly rises to his feet. He runs towards the man and woman and stops in front of them. He looks at them and asks "What has happened?"

"Someone's not setting their ant traps! Ahahaha." The man at the
wagon turns and saunters over to the scene, inserting himself forcibly
into the scene. "I knew they grow them big around here but damn!"

The dog looks up for a minute, surveys the scene, then goes back to chewing the bone.

When the woman screams the half-elf's fingers rush to the dagger at his side, and the perceptive note a faint spark that flashes along the blade.

The halfling jerks awake violently, knocking his boot off of the wall,
scattering the handful of copper coins. He looks around frantically
until he identifies the source of the noise and sees the dead bug.
Muttering, he rolls out from under the cloak, scoops some copper back
into his boot, gathers his cloak and boot, stumbles over near the bug,
sets the boot down, crawls back under the cloak and goes back to
sleep.

The woman falls to her knees crying. She is a particularly plain looking woman, her cheeks are flushed bright red. The man throws out another swear, "Curs-ed Six."
He looks to the fast-moving elf, "They came out of nowhere. Well thats not really true, they came out of the basement. A bunch of them. They tried to kill all of us, managed to get out just in time. Bastards pretty much overran my damn inn.

The elf glances towards the inn and then looks back at the man. "If you need any help ridding yourself of these creatures I will gladly lend my hand."

The man looks at you in a bit of shock, though he feebly tries to hide the expression on his face. "Well that would be great. But there's a bunch of the lil buggers, you might have a hard time by yourself, son."

The halfling throws the cloak off and jumps to his feet. He tugs on his boot, leaving him in a full, if shabby-looking, suit of leather armor. He's holding an oversized (for a halfling, at least) mace, and has a crossbow strapped to his waist. "How many are we talkin', pops?" he says, not bothering to contain the excitement in his voice or on his face. He is so happy to be here right now, you guys.

The half-elf strolls over. "A bit of bug-killing certainly beats message delivery. Don't suppose there'd be a reward for restoring your inn to operation?"

"Adunno, I saw maybe 3 or more but I heard some chitterings like there was a big'un too." The man looks uncomfortable at the mention of pay. "Sure. Pay." He mutters something under his breath with a sullen look. "Well if you don't rob my stash I suppose I could pay the lot of you...say, 50 gold each for cleaning out ma place?"

The half-elf bows with a flourish. "Sir, you have just engaged the services of Jacobus d'Lyrandar, insect exterminator!" Turning to the halfling and elf, "I suppose you gentlemen are interested in the job as well?"

"Now wait just a second ya'll, I'm not against playing exterminator if
the price is right. Assuming then, that the price, is right." The
man in the hat walks over to his wagon and fiddles with a shape tucked
under the bottom. After a few flicks of his nimble fingers he
detaches a mean looking crossbow and walks back to the growing group
with a mischievous smile on his face. "'Tis a pleasure to meet you
gentlemen, the name is Diggie Stacks and I would be remiss not to
accompany you."

The man gives a curt nod to the joining Diggie, clearly unhappy about the increasing bill, but also too afraid to not get help. "Well whenever you guys are ready, there are two doors, that street door that I just took out into the street, and the alley door up there (he points around the right side of the inn). They both lead into the same room. There are several rooms in the upstairs, and then there's a basement below where they came from. It's a humble little place, please don't smash it up, because that will come out of your reward."

"Well gentlemen, shall we proceed? That is, shall someone else
proceed? I find my most useful role in situations such as these lies
somewhat rearward." -Diggie

The halfling strides confidently into the inn.

The elf follows the halfling in.

The dog's ears perk up, and on seeing them enter the inn drops the bone, gets up and follows.

After the initial burst of commotion has ended the changling silently walks up to the dead insect picks it up and starts inspecting it, nearly dissecting it on the spot, taking mental notes quickly pulling out organs and such. At the mention of more of the creatures and possibly a larger specimen he drops the dead insect and silently follows the others, keeping a few paces back.

The halfling moves to the front door (D1) and throws it open.

An Introduction

This is a blog in which you can follow my 4th edition campaign that my friends and I are going to be playing via email. I will post updates that will include in game and out of game commentary made by all the players as the game progresses.
Of course, secret information wont be revealed unless it is revealed by the players, so you are basically spectating on their successes and their idiotic antics. Combat will be included and we will temporarily post links to the online battlemat we are using to run this game.
Feel free to comment and make fun of people, consider yourselves to be helpful scholars and friends to the players.
As a general format, in game comments from here on will be written in regular text while out of game comments will be "hidden" (in parentheses).
